Study Topics
The 200 hours are divided into the following study topics, according to the requirements of 'Yoga Alliance' — currently the main Yoga governing body, which oversees yoga teacher training standards.

1. Yoga Postural Techniques and Breathing (100 hours)
You will learn the in-depth technology of 30 introductory level postures, that can be offered to all levels, with adaptations for a variety of potential yoga students (i.e. back problems, overweight, children, seniors), as well as four important yoga breathing practices and kriyas. You will learn basic alignment technology, which can be adapted to absolutely any other postures you wish to teach.
2. Teaching Methodology (25 hours)
How to present a learning experience to your students. This is adapted from the Kripalu tradition, which is well-known around the world, for its experiential learning methodologies.
3. Anatomy and Physiology (20 hours)
Includes traditional anatomy and physiology (organs, muscles, bodily systems and certain physical and mental conditions for which yoga may be beneficial. This section also includes energy anatomy and physiology (chakras, prana, nadis, etc.)
4. Philosophy/Ethics/Lifestyle (30 hours)
Includes yogic philosophy; yoga study guidance; Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras; the Kripalu 8-fold approach to holistic living; an interesting introduction into yoga’s sister science Auryveda; and an introduction to Kripalu YogaDance (the fun-filled, high energy, liberating combination of yoga and dance for all ages).

5. Practicum (20 hours)
This includes practice teaching in a supervised, safe and very supportive group environment, and an 8-week home practice teaching module with pre-designed lesson plans (1 1/2 hours a week).
6. Electives (10 hours)
There are 4 or 5 textbooks required for the course and certain assigned readings.
7. Contact hours (180 hours)
You will be in the company and under the direct guidance of your facilitators for a minimum of 180 hours. This includes a minimum of 16 yoga classes (two full classes each weekend), led by your main facilitators.
